Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Eli Woolls, owner of Transform Training, located in Corpus Christi, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Transform Training is a strength and conditioning/ personal training studio. We work with a wide range of clients towards a wide range of goals, from athletes who want to prepare for college to general population individuals who simply want to lose weight or gain muscle. It is commonly comprised of individualized workouts depending on the associated individual's goals.
Tell us about yourself
I have been in the fitness industry for the better half of a decade but have always had a passion for physiology and been amazed by what the human body is capable of. Motivation for continuing this passion is primarily acquired through seeing client results and their amazement when they achieve something they never thought was possible.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As of now, our biggest accomplishments include having athletes signed to a college or pro team in baseball and basketball. In addition to this, there have been several individuals who have lost over 100 pounds which is absolutely amazing, and they still aren't done!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing initially was juggling time as I was still finishing my master's degree in physiology; however, once I finished and was also able to hire someone, this eased up a little. Still, to this day, I have to be willing to give up certain things in order to manage my time better.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Three tips that I believe would be beneficial for any business starter would include the following: never be discouraged by any setbacks (adversity, failure, or challenges are what eventually lead to success and triumph), there is never too much planning (making a detailed business idea will always be beneficial and remember to account for any unexpected scenarios, so you aren't surprised), and finally make sure there is a great need for your item or service as well as enough income to hit the ground running (many businesses fail due to inadequate resources within the first couple of years which might be primarily due to a lack of income or savings).
