Unique Services, Customized Experiences - Elevated Wellness

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jamie Lester, Owner of Elevated Wellness, located in Bryn Mawr, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is massage, reiki & CBD. My customers are from all walks of life. Single, married, divorced, or dating. with and without kids. Small business owners, corporate employees & stay at home parents.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business originally as soon as I graduated from massage school in 2007, offering private in-home massages to friends and family to start. I got my first massage position at a chain, continued to build my private practice, and gained so much experience in that time.

I then formed a company with my former partner and left all outside massage positions behind in 2012. I moved to Philadelphia back in 2016 & am very grateful to have such a following so many years later.

My practice is unique, and I help people in different ways every day, and that keeps me going!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is still being a business owner despite Covid, despite having to move so many times for so many reasons, and despite the fact that I’m a solo practitioner and have to wear ALL the hats. It’s hard, but it’s worth it, and nothing else could fulfill me the way this life does.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Having to wear all the hats and finding the courage and willpower to not work on your day off to keep the books full and to be on top of your work (follow-ups and such).

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Stay on top of your own health. You’re no good to anyone if you aren’t well!
  2. Stay on top of your finances. You need to spend/invest money to make it, and it’s much harder to do that with $0 in the bank.
  3. Charge your worth. Regardless of your industry, you’re either providing a service or a product. Charge for your time & effort. This is time you’re spending away from loved ones and serving others. Make it worth your while!
