What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hi! I'm Alex of EJS Beauty, formally known as Estella Jane Style. I'm a licensed cosmetologist who specializes in vintage waves and updos, soft glam makeup looks, and vibrant hair color. You'll find me working behind the scenes for photo shoots, themed events, fashion shows, and from my home studio, where I service my haircut and color clientele.
Tell us about yourself
Hair styling, make-up, fashion, and art have always been passions of mine. I knew from a young age I wanted to be some type of artist in order to make my living. I knew in my heart as long as I was creating something beautiful, I would be happy with my life.
What motivates me each day to keep working in and on my business is my family. I love having the ability to make my own schedule and be there for both my kid's important milestones and events. My partner also motivates me every day by supporting my ideas and artistic endeavors no matter how out there they may be.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Not quitting when times get tough, I've learned to appreciate the journey.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The balancing act of running a successful business takes knowing when to ask for help and delegate a task.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Ask for help when you need it, don't try and be everything for everyone, and trust yourself.
