What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have a few businesses but am a sole proprietor. First is my e-commerce store, EDGE Mobility System. I serve rehab professionals like doctors of physical therapy, occupational therapists, chiropractors, athletic trainers, and massage therapists. I also sell fitness and health products to the public. I teach online and live seminars to rehab professionals under the brand Modern Manual Therapy. I am a PT influencer under the same brand/social handle on most social channels. Lastly, I have a cash-based PT practice in the Buffalo, NY area, EDGE Rehab and Sport Science, and a podcast, Untold Physio Stories.
Tell us about yourself
My parents were MDs, and I've always been interested in healthcare and helping people, so the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree was a logical step for me. My family of a loving wife and 6 beautiful children motivates me to work hard and bring home the bacon.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Becoming renowned in the PT industry and teaching live seminars all over the US and internationally.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The ups and downs of sales and business revenue in general, always keeping up with trends and adapting before success gets the better of you. The worst thing ever happened to my business was relying on a very early successful product. I thought I was invincible, but now I know not to put all my eggs in one basket.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be consistent with your social media and content creation; it's easy to burn out. Create content your audience finds valuable; it's ok to recycle others content and even your own with your unique flare. Give credit where it's due.
