What's your business, and who are your customers?

Tell us about yourself

I'm the CMO and co-founded this business along with our CEO, Richard Kirsch. We started this business after years of leading marketing and I.T. at a publicly traded pet supply company, where we scaled revenue from $20 million to $300 million. High-margin, lightweight, reorderable items is the formula, and every single day we wake up to provide our customers with a best-in-class e-commerce experience.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Launching a new business during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and providing jobs for members of our community was satisfying, and we're very proud of that.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is balancing the art vs. the science. Data gives only a part of the story; one must be able to synthesize past and present experiences along with the human component to lead effectively.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a business you know about, either as a customer or from previous experience.
  2. Work with people you know and trust.
  3. Focus on the customer, know what you want & need to do, and do not get distracted by shiny objects.
