Coffee From Around the World - Eco Delight Coffee
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Guillermo Moran, Founder, and Managing Partner of Eco Delight Coffee LLC., located in Elk Grove, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Eco Delight Coffee is a coffee roasting company located in Elk Grove, California. We import our coffee beans directly from growers that we know and are located in different countries and meet our standards of growing their coffee in accordance with ecological considerations, social conscience caring for their workers, and producing a high-quality specialty coffee. We are an artisan coffee roaster with traceability; we roast our coffees in small batches every week. Our customers will have the chance to meet the farmers and listen to their stories. This guarantees our customers a consistent and freshly roasted high-quality cup of coffee every day.
Tell us about yourself
My family had been growing coffee for five generations in El Salvador, a small country located in Central America. When I was a child, I was introduced to a coffee culture that was a way of life in our family, and I adopted it with passion.
I came to study for my university education in the United States, Texas, and Pennsylvania and adopted the US as my second home. I have the experience of being a coffee farmer, working in a large coffee mill processing the coffee to be exported to countries that consume it.
In 2009 I decided to come back to the US and start a coffee roasting company in California, and Eco Delight Coffee was born. Since I started the company in 2010, I have been passionate about working hard and making the company grow. We have gone on a good journey these ten years. Years of great success and years not so great, but what motivates me to move forward is the faith that the future will be bright and full of light.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is to work in something that I enjoy and have a passion for doing. In my case is to introduce to our customers our unique coffees as an experience that they will always remember and enjoy.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things, when you start and run a business is accessing credit to make your business grow. Especially in the first three years is very hard to find a financial institution that will loan you money. And if you are having a bad year is even harder.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Knowledge. It is important to know the product you are going to launch, the market, the people that are going to buy it, their buying habits, and your competitors and distribution channels.
- Persistence. You have to maintain always your enthusiasm, although things may not be going the way you want. Don't look back to blame for what went wrong but rather learn the causes why that happened, not to repeat it in the future again.
- Faith. When things go well, you have to be thankful, but when things go bad, you have to continue moving forward-thinking that the future will soon be bright.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I am grateful to have the opportunity to share my story and my company Eco Delight Coffee with such a great audience of GoSolo Digital Magazine. I invite the audience to try our Eco Delight Coffees.
