Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Debbie Zinman, Co-Founder of ECHOage Inc., located in Toronto, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are the birthday party platform for gifts and charity. We are A Better Way to Celebrate birthdays and teachers' gifts. Our customers are primarily moms and dads.
Tell us about yourself
I got started with my partner Alison Smith in 2009. We knew there had to be a better way to celebrate birthdays, especially for kids. We knew that kids could do so much more than adults realize. ECHOage allows them to raise money for a gift for themselves and the rest goes to the charity of their choice.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Solving a problem. There were too many unwanted and unneeded gifts at kids' parties. Now you use ECHOage, and it is a win for the kid, a win for the guests, a win for the charities, and a win for the environment.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Juggling many hats.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in yourself.
- Don't quit when times get tough.
- Imagine the success that is coming to you.
