Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ed Drozda, Founder of E & D Associates, located in North Attleboro, MA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a business coach, The Small Business Doctor. Through the application of powerful diagnostic skills, deeply-honed intuition, and fearless questioning, I support the creation, development, and success of small businesses and their people. Whether you are contemplating starting a business, you are new in business, or you are in a mature business with unresolved challenges, I am here to help you succeed.
Tell us about yourself
I became a solopreneur as a result of a layoff. I learned many things as a result (e.g., I was not business savvy and did not like to sell). Through the power of networking, I learned about coaching, and I reinvented myself. I have experienced firsthand each of the challenges I support people with. Nothing brings greater joy than seeing someone recognize the possibility they did not realize they possessed.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I feel my most important accomplishment is that I can and do make a difference for small businesses and their people. It is profoundly gratifying when you know that with your help, others can achieve their dreams.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
It is a tough question to answer since each of us has our strengths and weaknesses. I think the best answer is not understanding our own strengths and weaknesses and the difficulty in answering this question. Once you have done this, you can move forward freely.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in what is possible. If you can conceive of it, it is possible. This is not a guarantee of success. It is the first step.
- Accept that you do not have to do it all alone. Accept that it is highly unlikely that you can do it all alone (and that this is OK). Consider the guidance and support that is offered to you, and accept it and utilize it as needed.
- Stay grounded. YOU come first. Your stability, and your integrity, are inextricable from your business. That is, if it is to be successful.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
No website, no Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. I have my reasons, but out of sight does not mean out of mind. I am in the process of starting a podcast- The Water Trough- we can't make you drink, but we will make you think! I hope you will keep an eye out for me there. https://www.buzzsprout.com/1213811
