Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dulce Dagda, Founder of Dulce Dagda Nutritionist, located in Chula Vista, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My name is Dulce Dagda. I'm a Certified Nutritionist, Biohacker, and Fitness coach based in San Diego, California. I have a YouTube channel with 137k subscribers and more than 7 M views. I always promote a healthy lifestyle, beauty, and fitness.
I work 101 with clients, principally Spanish speaker women, helping them to reach their health goals. I offer two online courses; one is called "Design your own diet' where I teach people how to personalize their eating without counting calories and focusing primarily on their health and wellness. And the other one is 'Nutrition for your skin' which is more focused on targeting skin problems like rosacea, acne, psoriasis, dermatitis, etc., from the inside out.
Tell us about yourself
I started studying nutrition and wellness and changed careers from Journalism 6 years ago because of my own health problems. I started developing a bad rosacea condition and a lot of body inflammation. I went to several doctors who didn't help me, so I decided to start my own journey and ended up studying for a Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Food Safety.
My passion is teaching others to heal themselves with the right nutrients instead of taking several pills a day. I love sharing my own experience and sending the correct message to a big audience through my YouTube channel and my podcast 'La Dulce Vida Saludable,' which is in Spanish, but I also work with English speakers.
What motivates me every day is receiving messages from my clients and followers who are practicing my tips, and they get way much better, which means I'm following my mission of helping people's lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Besides growing my audience to over 100,000 followers, converting a percentage of that audience to real clients. Also, finding brands that I trust in me, and I also believe in their products for sponsoring my channel and podcast.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Be creative every single day in order to post content. Today you can't get away without having strong social media. Reaching out to more audiences and finding the right people that follow my content, and converting that audience into real clients is the most difficult part of having your business online.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be consistent every day; don't give up even when you think this is not going to work.
- Be patient; nothing comes overnight; it really takes a lot of time before building something strong. Some people have a lot of luck, and that's pretty rare; you need to keep going.
- Be creative to adapt to new changes.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
If you have a passion for something, please start as soon as possible, even if you have a full-time job. I also have a full-time job, I work with a company where we help the elderly population to improve their social life and wellness, but organization and scheduling things up have been the key to starting my online business and following my passion which is Nutrition.
