What's your business, and who are your customers?

It is a private nutrition and dietetic clinic where we see patients one-on-one, do webinars and nutrition talks and offer consultancy to food companies too.

Tell us about yourself

I am a dietitian who left the hospital and set up the dublin nutrition centre 20 years ago, and I am passionate about what I do. I love empowering and helping people to eat well and learn to love food!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing people get better and repairing their relationship with food. Getting to work with like-minded dietitians who share the same passion. Knowing that the business is helping people.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Managing a business, the day-to-day administration that can eat up so much time!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient - it takes time. Don't rush it, but if you put the work in, it will grow.
  2. Listen - listen to your clients and those you work with and learn. We can always learn from others.
  3. Have a cutoff time - switch off from emails/ work at a certain time each day; otherwise, it can become all-consuming. When it is your own business, it can be hard not to feel like you should be working every minute.
