What's your business, and who are your customers?

I created a premium cachaça brand from Brazil. It's a spirit made with fresh-cut sugar cane juice. It is the national spirit of Brazil. My customers are adults 21+ of legal drinking age.

Tell us about yourself

I started this business because I love the cachaça spirit. However, I really couldn't find great cachaça in the US. After learning that cachaça is the 3rd most consumed spirit, I decided to create a brand. What motivates me every day is the drive to get my brand out in the market. I like when I see consumers trying cachaça for the first time and really enjoying the spirit.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is getting Soul Premium Cachaça into numerous markets, including international and national accounts.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It's the stress of money. You have to always watch the cash flow. You can never have enough money. Plus, you better be a great multitasker.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. It's a lifestyle, not a job. You don't have set hours.
  2. Make sure you are properly funded.
  3. Make sure it's your passion and dream.
