Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gavin Braman, co-founder of Drifting Creatives, located in College Station, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Drifting Creatives is a B2B branding and web design agency that supercharges small, but mighty marketing teams. We help make complex things simpler with words and images so customers get it.

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I'm Gavin Braman. As a co-founder at Drifting Creatives, I'm actively involved with growing the business, sales, finding talent, creative direction, and brand workshops. Yes, it's too many hats. I've won some awards with the help of a super-talented team, presented at regional and national design conferences, and have over 13 years of experience helping businesses grow with brand strategy and web design. I'm very motivated to build a business that's sustainable for living a balanced life for myself and my team. This is a driving force behind many decisions, like when we switched to a 32-hour work week, M-Th, back in 2019. And as a team, we're focused on impact. When we get wins for our clients, it restores energy to my soul. You can find me on LinkedIn and Instagram.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm always trying to make things better at Drifting Creatives. Sometimes we're not successful, but it's the trying that doesn't stop. My biggest accomplishment is learning that progress is more important than perfection. We're not done yet.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Creating consistency. Finding and keeping talent. Breaking through limiting beliefs.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You don't need to start at ground zero. Find a mentor to help guide you through the rough times. We're 13 years in, and I'm always reaching out for help.
  2. Don't wait too long to bring on the people who are really good at the things you're not good at.
  3. There is no magic button for success, but there are plenty of tools that make things easier. Invest in the tools that will save you time so you can focus on the big things. It's worth it.
