What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an Intuitive Life Coach blending coaching, intuitive readings, and energy healing to help highly sensitive people (HSPs), empaths, seekers, and introverts navigate career, relationship, and life transitions. As a Certified Sparketype® Advisor, I help people identify their unique imprint for work that makes them come alive and take steps to integrate that knowledge into their daily work/life. I also serve as a mentor coach to people whose psychic, intuitive, and energy-healing gifts have recently opened or those who are finally ready to embrace their gifts and integrate them into their lives or coaching practice. I offer The Whole Shebang 2.0 Life Coaching Subscription for those wanting longer-term support (min 6 months) as well as individual intuitive readings and energy healing sessions. I offer individual sessions with pets and their people, too!

Tell us about yourself

A 2004 rollover car accident cracked open intuitive, psychic, and energy healing capacities. In 2006, I began offering Energy Body Alignment healing sessions, intuitive readings, and healing pets. In 2010 I graduated from Coaching for Transformation, an ICF-accredited coaching program, and integrated the psychic and energy healing work with coaching to create Intuitive Life Coaching. I love working with people to change deeply held beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve them - that keep them stuck. Today, this is called "mindset" work, and I believe it's one key to living a meaningful, productive life. Other keys include a spiritual practice (mine is meditation, yoga, and prayer), self-inquiry, and personal development (therapy, self-development, etc.). Essentially, I'm a spiritual growth and personal development junkie. I love exploring these realms and helping others do the same because their lives get better when they do!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 2020, after 5 years of working in higher education, I re-opened Dragonfly Coaching and Consulting, LLC, and committed to it for the rest of my life. In order to double my income from the first year to the second, I had to trust and act on the guidance I was receiving, which included taking some financial risks, putting together a streamlined tiny team, and increasing visibility in ways I had never considered. I did it, and I am going into year three with lots of momentum!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Trusting your own intuition in the face of "what the industry says to do." It is incredibly important to learn the skills, hire good people, and know the trends. But in the end, You've got to trust your gut. Trusting yourself and what you know as a business owner is incredibly vulnerable when your livelihood and reputation are on the line. And it's necessary.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Don't go it alone. If you are a solopreneur, hire a seasoned, credentialed coach to support you along the way. Join networking and education organizations or a mastermind. Whatever support you need, get it.
2. Investing in yourself and your business is essential. Get trained, contract with a virtual assistant, accountant, social media manager, etc. Know your runway - the amount of time and resources you have to invest before you need to make a profit and pay yourself.
3. Know your tolerance for uncertainty and risk and work around the edges of it. Starting a business is incredibly uncertain so have the tools in place to navigate uncertainty.
