Shine Your Natural Leadership - Dr. Sweta Chawla
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in leadership development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Sweta Chawla, Founder of Dr. Sweta Coaching & Consulting, located in Albany, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a leadership coach and facilitator. I create tools and frameworks to support professionals, organizational leaders, and budding entrepreneurs to unlock their brilliance so they can lead with authenticity. As a result, they have more impact, joy, and meaning while honoring their well-being.
Tell us about yourself
I was a former clinical pharmacist and professor. After a decade, I hit a cross-road where I found myself asking, "Why am I working so hard without feeling recognized or fulfilled?" I didn't know that asking that question would set me on a deep and powerful journey of self-discovery and expression of my greater potential. I allowed myself to explore beyond what I knew and discovered that I was a natural coach, unboxed creative pursuits I didn't know I had and felt passionate about being a leader in life and work. What motivates me is the joy I feel when I see people unbox themselves and start to bet on themselves when they have the tools to navigate the discomfort that comes with change and growth. I also love being on their side to believe in them when they can't do that for themself or never had that kind of support.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is genuinely creating work I love that uses my natural talents, serves others, and fills me with joy.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing has been putting myself out there and stepping into my Natural Leadership by really taking a stand for what I believe in and not hiding behind a degree or a title.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Really take the time to get to know yourself and cultivate self-trust by having a strong reflection practice.
- Connect to your deeper why and hold it as your North Star. It will help you to be courageous and get you through hard moments.
- Do not be afraid of "failure" and do not go lone wolf. Know there is a learning curve, and creating something new takes experimentation. Failure is just data, and being around like-minded people will help you see that you are not the only one.
