What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is a private psychotherapy practice. I specialize in trauma and neurological disorders that create a psychological impact. My customers are individuals in the state of Georgia or Florida that have been impacted by trauma, neurological disorders, anxiety, or depression.
Tell us about yourself
As a psychometrist at a leading university, I quickly saw the need to provide services to those dealing with trauma and neurological symptoms. I have always wanted to help people. Each day I enter that safe space with my clients motivated by my ability to help others, equip them to make the changes they need, and encourage them to process what they previously felt they could not confront. Additionally, my husband of 21 years, our children, and granddaughters serve as daily motivation to not only reach my goals but to seek new and innovative ways to reach my goals.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is the impact I continue to make on those I serve. My practice is very financially successful, but I am most proud of the impact I make on the lives of my clients and know that impact will benefit their families and community.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is accepting that I cannot help everyone. There is so much need in the mental health field and not enough support to go around.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Understand the need in your industry and how you can meet that need.
- Be clear about your goals and devote time to achieving them.
- Always have a teachable spirit because industries change often.
