Heal Your Brain - Dr. Jared
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Jared Seigler, a Doctor of Chiropractic, Certified Functional Medicine Provider and Neurology based in Yukon, OK, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a chiropractor trained in both functional medicine and functional neurology. I love to help people with their brain health ranging from Autism to Alzheimer's and everything in between but helping kids improve their brain development and healing is my primary focus, and giving simple solutions to very complex health problems.
Tell us about yourself
My wife, Julie, was my first patient. We went from thinking we could never have kids to watch my daughter come into this world.
As I watched Julie holding our daughter, I knew I needed to not only take care of them but to take care of myself. Diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's run in my family, so I made a promise that I would do whatever I could to make sure I’d never be a burden to them. I have seen firsthand the slow and agonizing process of Alzheimer’s and the negative effects it can have on an entire family.
I discovered functional medicine and never looked back. I had learned that both Julie and I have autoimmunity, so I focused on how I could help other people with similar issues. We raised our daughter, avoiding known triggers and supporting her development as all parents do. I just had a strategic advantage since what I do is help people get healthy.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to build a business around the life I want instead of building a life around a business.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Sometimes feeling like nobody is in your corner and it is just you. Learning to ask for help can go a long way.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure it is your zone of genius and passion, or you will get burned out.
- Be able to adapt. A business is a living thing, and the ability to adapt usually determines survivability in a changing landscape, not strength.
- Hire the right people to take you and your business to the next level. As business owners, our external success is typically reflective of where we are in our own journey. Primary relationships with yourself, your spouse, and family and loved ones will make or break us.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
The only person holding you back is yourself.
