What's your business, and who are your customers?
Under my Boss-ish lifestyle brand, I am a Financial, Health, and Wellness expert focused on the eight dimensions of the wellness wheel. That includes emotional, physical, occupational, intellectual, financial, social, environmental, and spiritual wellness. Coaching from a mindset standpoint. Customers looking to build healthy habits or manage pain come to me for long-term solutions for relief. I provide results-driven plans tailored to each individual that are quick and easy to follow with minimal changes to their lifestyle.
Tell us about yourself
I feel compelled to say I'm living my purpose. As early as age 14, I could remember having an interest in my stepmom's pregnancy and grandma's illness congruent, which led me to go into the medical field. While practicing, I noticed there were disparities in low-income communities, leading to obesity-related cancer, preventable disease, poor health, etc. At that moment, I shifted my focus to serving my community and redefining thought processes as it relates to whole-body health. I created the Boss-ish lifestyle brand with several verticals concentrated on helping busy individuals create and maintain healthy lifestyles. Knowing that my work has proven lifelong results keeps me motivated. Patients come in as clients and become family.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Becoming the first physician in my family with little exposure to the profession of medicine.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Staffing. Making sure I'm fulfilling staff needs and being an exemplary leader.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know your why; it will get you through difficult times.
- Be innovative. Respond to the needs of the client. The client will tell you exactly what they need.
- Find a coach; someone came before you. Don't be afraid to ask for help. For students and parents, I go in-depth about the importance of guidance in my book "Educational Athlete: Why every successful student needs a coach."
