Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Donna Hight, founder of Trinity Body Wellness, LLC., located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Licensed Massage Therapist, and I specialize in Myofascial Release (MFR); I help anyone who suffers from pain. I assess the body in gravity and listen to the client as they describe the patterns and areas of their pain. I love working for anyone that has acute, chronic, identified, or unidentified pain. I focus on the physical body, but as a trained trauma-informed Reiki Master, I bring in the energetic component as well. You may be holding tension in your body from past physical or emotional trauma. I help identify that and work with the client to release it.

Tell us about yourself

I found MFR through my own healing journey to get out of chronic pain. It changed my life, and I knew that it was profound enough that I wanted to help others the way I was helped. I love going to work every day. I adore my clients, and I grow through watching them progress in their journey. Helping others is a treasure to me. It feeds my soul. Most humans don't know the issues they hold in their bodies. They just know they feel pain. I consider it to be my honor to help guide them through it to the other side.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting a business during a pandemic! When I was laid off due to the pandemic, I saw it as a sign to make my move. I'd been thinking about it for years but couldn't see the way out and into the MFR business. When the pandemic happened, I flew. Went to school and did the extra training I needed to be certified in MFR. I've not looked back and keep moving forward. I know this work is profound and needed, and I won't be stopped. I consider myself to be so fortunate to have the experiences, the motivation, and the drive to get it done. I'm privileged to do this work, and I'm thankful for this opportunity and for my clients.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Doing everything. Booking, advertising, the work itself. It's a lot to keep up with. And, in this healing work, you have to meet yourself head-on and do the work you need to do. You can only take a client as far as you've gone yourself. It's busy but rewarding.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know what your business model is and how you help people. Be clear and concise in your message via social media, website, and advertising efforts. How do you differ from others that do what you do?
  2. Do your daily work, be it thought work, meditation, etc. Make sure you are a clean vessel for the work and your business every day. Know thyself, and you shall know your client.
  3. Have a mentor or coach (even if you have to pay for it) that can give advice. Don't however, crowdsource your decisions. It's your business. You make the decisions.
