What's your business, and who are your customers?

We help people become champions in mixed martial arts. We teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing, Kickboxing, Wrestling, and Judo in a safe and fun family environment that is open to anyone that wants to learn how to become a mixed martial artist. You do not have to be an athlete to become great. All you need is a good attitude, and we have the best coaches in the area to help you reach your full potential.

Tell us about yourself

I have been training in martial arts for over 45 years. I am a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt. I am also one of the most successful MMA coaches in the area, with a winning record of 32-4 losses. I helped MMA Champion Roy Sarabia win five championship belts in the 145lb division and to be ranked #1 out of 2500 MMA fighters in the featherweight division of the southwest conference. I am also the only coach in South Texas to have three professional fighters signed to the International promotion called Combate Global.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I founded Dominion MMA, which is one of the highest-rated MMA gyms in San Antonio, Texas. We are also one of the fastest-growing MMA gyms in the country and one of the top-earning gyms in our industry.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The biggest challenge in our industry is keeping our clients happy and retaining their memberships.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

In starting your business, I would recommend being the innovator and not the imitator creating a system and perfecting it over time, and delegating accordingly as you grow.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Never give up; failure is part of the process, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and perseverance always pays off.
