Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in pet care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mehdi & Josh, founders of Dogue Spa, located in West Hollywood, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Dogue Spa is a one-of-a-kind grooming Spa located in West Hollywood, CA. Our aim from day one has been to bring together a team of real dog grooming artists, starting with our very own Co-Founder and Lead Groomer, Josh White. We wanted to bring together a vibrant and diverse team, able to shake the grooming world - by modernizing it and bringing the art that is dog grooming - to the forefront of pop culture.

By doing so, we focus primarily on Japanese Style Grooming and Creative Cuts / Dye Jobs. This art form is very visual and has been attracting media from all around the world. We pride ourselves on being trailblazers in the industry and really wanted to create our own path and legacy.

Another important aspect of Dogue Spa is our rapport with our four-legged clients. Tho we service many High Profile clients and celebrities, we want each client's experience to be unique and personable; we hold ourselves to the highest standards from the products we use, A+ customer service to the very environment we welcome our clientele. The atmosphere at Dogue is usually friendly airy. It is closer to a human hair salon experience rather than an actual pet salon.

Tell us about yourself

Josh and I Mehdi come from two very different backgrounds. Josh has always had a passion for dogs, working many jobs from vet tech to doggy daycare attendant; he eventually found his passion in dog grooming and over the years really excelled not only at it but also was able to bring his artistic eye to life with safe-dye colors, which brought a lot of attention to Dogue Spa.

Mehdi, on the other hand, comes from a Corporate Finance background, which has become handy to manage the logistics and business side of our business. What really motivates us is to pursue our vision to its fullest. We want to leave a long-lasting legacy in the grooming industry and shake it up to open doors to a broader spectrum of dog lovers/artists.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Tho we are very proud of the impact we have had on our community and city in such a short amount of time, we recently received a Proclamation from the City Of West Hollywood "For pushing the boundaries of creativity and providing a unique dog grooming experience for West Hollywood residents and the larger Los Angeles community." We strongly believe our biggest accomplishments are yet to come.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balance! You need to really find a way to allocate your time/resources the best way possible and become a master in problem-solving. Something we would recommend to any aspiring business owners is to set a clear vision in writing and a detailed plan to get there. Do not forget the most important aspect of it: taking care of your mental health.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Have a clear vision of your business, value your employee and your clients more than your pockets, be adaptive to whatever comes your way. Last but not least, I would recommend meditating - it helps a great deal to be mindful of your own shortcomings and to find ways to go around them and excel at whatever you set your mind to achieve over time.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Take care of yourself and your team, be confident and shake the world!
