What's your business, and who are your customers?
Do All Things With Joy is a holistic life and health coaching company. I focus on helping people find the place where health and wellness meet passion and purpose. If you desire to see abundance in your life personally, professionally, spiritually, and physically I'm the woman who asks the hard questions that will help you discover your answers and start building the life of your dreams.
Tell us about yourself
I'm Yahweh's daughter, a wife, mother, sister, and friend who happens to be a published author, internationally-certified IIN health coach specializing in gut health and microbiome reconstruction, and a professional union (SAG/AFTRA/AEA) actress. I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with the highest honors in 1999 with a Communication Performance degree. Ernst & Young, LLC hired me as a consultant in their Change Management Practice upon graduation. I left Corporate America to pursue a career as a Professional Actress. In 2006 motherhood brought about a different focus. I redirected my career in the health and wellness industry first as a group fitness instructor, then as a personal trainer; however, serious health issues arose from a bout with C-Diff after taking an antibiotic. In a quest to find healing for my digestive system and mental anguish, I enrolled in a health coaching school to fix my issues and graduated with abundant health and a renewed sense of professional direction. I started my health coaching practice and have helped hundreds if not thousands of people regain their vitality.
I am the founder and CEO of Do All Things With Joy, LLC. I humbly use my life to inspire people to see the benefit of healthy living, so they have the energy to pursue their goals and approach life with passion and purpose. Down-to-earth, inspirational, authentic, and tell-it-like-it-is would describe my personality and approach to coaching. I live what I preach! You see, some moments indelibly mark our lives. These are the moments when we know the trajectory of our existence has changed. We find ourselves confronting new territory and desperately trying to find our new normal. Often, this new normal manifests through tragedy or illness. Have you ever been in a space where you knew your life would never be the same? Have you ever asked, "why me?" Only to have God answer, "Because your pain isn't for you, it's for the benefit of others!" Have you ever made one decision that puts you smack in the middle of your purpose without even trying? At 30, doctors informed me I would need to take medication for the rest of my life. I was given an antibiotic in response to what my doctor thought was a sinus infection, which forever altered my life. The antibiotic destroyed my digestive system and left me reeling in physical, mental, and emotional pain. I often tried to hide this pain and embarrassment from family and friends because I didn't want to appear broken.
Determined to change the course of my health naturally, I set out on a 10-year mission to discover the root cause of my health issues and generate tangible solutions. I was determined to regain my quality of life and heal my hidden pessimism/depression because there was entirely too much to live for. After a ravaged digestive system and six miscarriages, I now have a healthy body and two healthy boys.
Healing wasn't easy; however, I was determined to overcome it. I knew I went through my "issues" because I was supposed to help someone else. I've studied over 100 dietary theories Ayurveda, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, and everything in between. My education has equipped me with extensive, cutting-edge knowledge in holistic nutrition and prevention. I'm much more than a health coach. I'm a life implementation coach. I help people find a place where health and wellness meet passion and purpose. I want to unlock the psychological chains and emotional patterns food holds over us in many ways. The dilemma of these "chains" shapes my life's work. I can't just help you figure out what foods to put in your mouth if I don't help you find what nourishes your spirit, soul, and body through your career, relationships, spiritual walk, and physical activity. I understand that every person is biochemically unique, so I never pump out cookie-cutter recommendations. I design programs for my client that match their needs. Together we discover what makes you thrive.
My clients motivate me each day to do what I do. I help you uncover what lifestyle habits and foods complement you. As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I create a very supportive environment that fosters your success. You are empowered to articulate your desires and goals freely. Throughout my education, I was taught the most relevant and cutting-edge dietary theories and intensely studied effective coaching techniques to guide you to the most genuinely authentic lifestyle that works best for you! The best part is I've walked in your shoes. I revamped my entire life, so I'm coming from a place of empathy and understanding. Do All Things With Joy is a health and life coaching practice that wants you to find where health and wellness meet passion and purpose. Kimberly will guide you to your zone of genius and help you recognize that sweet spot in your life.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Hosting two sold-out women's health and wellness conferences, Fiercely Feminine, in 2018 and 2019. Co-facilitating women's retreats in Costa Rica and Belize and soon to be St. Lucia in 2022, and writing my book Share the Joy: 52 Weeks to Abundant Health.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
For me, it's marketing. I'm humble and love to highlight other businesses and services; however, I always find it hard to promote myself when I have events and services that I know can be life-changing for people. It all feels a bit self-absorbed at times, so I struggle in that area as a business owner.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you love your industry and want to serve people with the best customer service.
- Clearly define your ideal customer and craft your offerings to solve their problems.
- Always continue learning and give back to the community with your business.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I'm also a professional union actress (SAG/AFTRA/AEA). I do many commercial jobs, fitness modeling, and hosting jobs. I love hosting and teleprompter jobs where I can represent companies as their spokesperson.
