Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Philip Marthinsen, co-founder of Djuce Wines, located in Berlin, Germany.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Collaborating with a team of Michelin-starred sommeliers, we hand select stunning wines and neatly deliver them in bold cans. Why? Because the Earth is begging us to shake things up. Drink less, drink better, drink Djuce.
Tell us about yourself
We were intrigued by the fact that there were no real global brands in wine, together with the almost nonexistent innovation in the wine industry. When we found a graph showing that more than 50% of the climate impact came from packaging and realised that the glass bottle had been around for more than 500 years, we felt we had to give it a go.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The fact that we went from an idea in a few slides to a full business with operations and team across Europe and global demand for the product in less than 12 months.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The fact that no matter how much you have achieved in one day, there is always a ton of things you need to figure out the next. You got to love the struggle.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find great partners/co-founders. No person is an island.
- Be obsessed with what you do. Become laser-focused and devote all your energy to doing it.
- Love the struggle. If not, it's not worth doing it.
