Create the Life You Want! - Diane Dreizen
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Diane Dreizen, Career and Whole Life Coach, located in Portland, OR, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I’m a Career and Whole Life Coach that works with professionals, executives, and leaders to become smarter, stronger, and more effective, creating rewarding careers, successful relationships, and balanced lives. I’m particularly passionate about empowering women to activate their full potential through the practical application of intuitive guidance.
Tell us about yourself
In today’s go-go-go environment, professional women are expected to do more, be more, and figure out how to balance it all on their own. I’ve been there. After running three successful businesses, I know what it’s like to be burned out, feeling like you always have to give more yet leave none for yourself. I’m here to say, “enough is enough.”
Throughout my career, I found the more I let go of others’ truths and made my own decisions, the stronger and happier I became. With a business and psychology background, I now use my experiences to help empower other women. As a solution-focused life coach guiding people to aspire towards what they want and how to get it, I have created a blend of psychology with alternative, natural and indigenous modalities of healing and rejuvenation that I find to be more effective when used together. Wherever you are on your path through life, whether it is finding direction or refining wisdom, I’m here to assist you in creating your best life.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I’ve owned three successful businesses and have learned what it takes, on both the practical and personal levels, to thrive in a leadership position and build a business with a few women mentors. I learned to set boundaries to reduce stress and balance work with whole-life aspirations.
I honed my ability to discern when to take strategic risks. I discovered how to find the determination to keep going through difficult times and stay motivated through inspiration and flexibility, and I demonstrated how a woman can lead with grace and confidence in a “man’s world.” I am passionate about empowering women to have a career and a fulfilling personal life. The path to success is easier with an experienced coach guiding your journey to self-discovery.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Many of us grew up believing that we should put others first, that we need to be likable, and that we have to prove ourselves while subtly being undermined. As a result, even when I achieved notable professional success in my first two businesses, I was overworked, overwhelmed, and unhappy, building a business where I was no longer spending time doing the things I loved.
While I developed habits that led to my career success, they did not serve the future self I wanted to become, a loving mother who leads a fulfilling and balanced life. So over the years, I’ve learned to listen to my inner wisdom, trust my intuition and lean into my strengths. This has helped me raise a wonderful family, pursue my passion and purpose and create the life I desired while running a successful business. I now take those learnings along with my business acumen and life coaching skills to guide women professionals to find their own truth and create the life they desire.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- I’d recommend anyone looking to start a business to ensure they are clear on their passion, purpose, and strengths so that they can build their desired business and serve the needs of their customers, one that leaves them energized rather than depleted at the end of each day.
- Hire professionals and learn to delegate. Commonly solopreneurs feel they don’t have the budget to hire professionals, yet hiring those with talent and experience can help you reach your goals faster and better than you can by yourself.
- Keep going when the going gets tough, and don’t give up. When running your own business, there will undoubtedly be times when things get tough, no matter how good you are at what you do. Dig deep, lean into your vision, and refine your path to ensure you enjoy life as you grow your business.
