Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dia Bondi, founder of Dia Bondi Communications, LLC., located in El Cerrito, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Dia Bondi Communications is a professional development company. We work with the best entrepreneurs, leaders, and innovators in the world to help them speak powerfully. Our dream is to be the secret weapon for every transformational leader, creating an impact in their industry and domain.
Tell us about yourself
I have always had a problem with authority- in that I didn't like someone to have authority over me. I've been self-employed nearly my whole life. I had ONE job as a desk clerk at a video store in high school and didn't have another job until my 30s when a client invited me to go in-house with them. It lasted as long as it needed to, and then I was back out on my own.
I am deeply driven by my values of adventure and the desire for connected experiences. These two things are now what my company strives to create for people- inner adventures that make us more connected to ourselves and one another. I was an economics major in college, married my high school sweetheart, and I work to play life on my own terms.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
There is no "biggest." Every day I am inspired by our clients because I get to witness their realization that leading with who they truly are, and speaking from that, IS their source of power and impact. It's the light in their eyes when they can sense their own voice and use it to align and advance the people they lead. That happens every day in small and big ways. And often, the quietest conversation where that happens is equally satisfying as the big fundraiser or that winning vote.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Everything everyone does is hard. I love owning my own business as it gives me the autonomy and freedom to build what I want to build with few boundaries. I do have constraints and challenges, but they are alive for me and keep me engaged. So, when you ask me what's the hardest? I'll answer, "depends on the day." Today? Scaling impact while maintaining the connected type of experiences I live for.
