What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an intuitive, a theta healer, and a substance abuse counselor. My clients are people seeking a change in their lives - such as a new job, relief from self-sabotaging habits, support when making a big change in their lives, or helping them to attract healthier people and relationships.

Tell us about yourself

Once I completed my doctorate in education leadership and got licensed as a substance abuse counselor, I opened my business. I worked in a treatment center for five years, and now I work for myself. I am motivated by a desire to help people create the lives they always wished they had.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Staying in business since 2008 and through the pandemic, I'm still here, making a difference and loving what I do.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Getting through the lean times, like when I could no longer offer in-person classes because of the pandemic. Fortunately, it was easy to move it all to web-based classes and programs.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Persevere.
  2. Know that if you have the desire to offer it, there are people waiting for exactly what you offer.
  3. Use your resources, create a team to support your work, and let them do what isn't your specialty, then use your time for your areas of talent, for your purpose.
