What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a conference keynote speaker. My clients are businesses, event planners, meeting planners, and bureaus.

Tell us about yourself

I started keynote speaking over 20 years ago. I knew I had a message about well-being, resilience, and mental health. I am energized every day by knowing that I have the incredible opportunity to impact people in a positive way. My topics include mental health and resilience and are packed with practical strategies that work!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Achieving a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation in 2010. It is the highest standard of excellence in the speaking profession.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Staying on top of tracking expenses and ensuring the company books are in order.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do what brings you joy! 'When you do what you love, you never "work" again"!
  2. Join an association in your field. I belong to the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, and the development I have achieved through CAPS has been immeasurable.
  3. Start or join a Mastermind Group - a group of people like you who can meet and be candid and help each grow and prosper.
