Unleash Your Inner BOSS - Demi Jean

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Demi Jean, a business mentor, based in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Millionaire Business Mentor for online coaches, consultants, and service providers. Helping women scale their online businesses to 6, multiple 6 figures and beyond through offer suite development, marketing, launching, and sales strategy.

Tell us about yourself

Honestly, it's a funny story. If you had told me three years ago that I would be here today, mentoring women on making money in business, doing 120,000-140,000/month, I would have told you - you were crazy! I actually got my start in the online space because my 9-5 job denied me a raise. I was looking to make an extra $200/month to pay a few bills, so I Googled ''how to make money online'' and found the world of Virtual Assisting. With a degree in Business and Marketing and a ton of corporate experience - I thought, ''This sounds like something I could do with ease!''

I started learning everything I could about the online space. Ultimately, I invested in my first-ever coaching program - pivoted to a social media manager, and then started making more money in my ''side hustle'' than I was making in my 9-5! Because of how well I was doing in my own business, I had a lot of other entrepreneurs who had begun to reach out for support, so mentorship was a natural transition, and I truly found my purpose. Now we run a million-dollar company, and I get to change the lives of my clients on a daily basis. It's a DREAM.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Honestly, beyond the numbers, it's supporting my clients. It's watching them go after their dreams, travel the world, and do things they never thought possible. It's about me believing in them on the days when they don't always believe in themselves. Sharing their accomplishments makes my entire world go round and reminds me every day why I do what I do.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a recovering people-pleaser - one of the toughest things for me was upholding boundaries and standards in my business. As a CEO, you have to operate a business, and sometimes that means [a lot of the times that means] knowing where to draw the line between friendship and ''being nice'' and upholding someone to their commitment/upholding your boundaries.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. STOP WAITING - start doing. Action will take you farther and teach you more than you could ever imagine. There is no ''right time'' to move, make a decision, and start doing something differently. If you want different results - you must take different actions.
  2. Invest in mentorship. Invest in a long-term program that you can grow with. When you ''coach hop'' from program to program to program, you're actually stunting your growth. It's totally fine to learn from different people - but I highly suggest having a home base with a mentor.
  3. Focusing on content will change the absolute GAME for your business. Knowing how to create high-quality, converting, and trust-building content that speaks to the RIGHT people will accelerate your growth.
