What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a portrait photographer, and I would say my customers are models, music artists, or anybody who just loves to take pictures.

Tell us about yourself

I’m a photographer based in Peoria, IL, by way of Vallejo, CA. I first started doing photography in 2015 and just continued to grow from there. It hasn’t been a walk in the park, but I love what I do. My son motivates me the most. I want to show him that with hard work and dedication, he can achieve his goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was getting published for the first time, as well as getting recognition from a well-known singer.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is that often at times, a lot of us may get discouraged from our business because we may not be seeing the results right away or things may not go as planned. I think that as long as we continue to work hard, everything will fall into place.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do some research on the type of business you want to start.
  2. Invest in yourself. You gotta spend money to make money, lol.
  3. Just work hard and stay consistent.
