Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ron Nezat, Owner of Decorative Concrete Engine, LLC., located in Lafayette, LA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We specialize in coming alongside professionals who are either in the decorative concrete business or who are looking to start a decorative concrete business. We help them avoid the pitfalls of getting started in business and do business coaching to maximize their revenue and decrease the capital outlay of getting started in the business.
Tell us about yourself
After over 25 years of business consulting and starting my own decorative concrete company in 2013, we started receiving more and more phone calls from people asking us how we got to be successful and what we do. So my wife and I put together a coaching program that we sell as a quick start program that walks you through launching a decorative concrete business.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I’ve been blessed and had many successes, but one of the biggest successes is having the margin to have a life well lived. What that means is that I have the flexibility to be home when my kids are home from school and take vacations on a regular basis with my family to enjoy time and make memories.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the most difficult realities of being a business owner is having no one to shift the work to, which means that when you’re on vacation or out of the office, you still have to be in touch with your employees and your customers and stay on top of issues to make sure that things don’t get out of hand. There’s no one that you can just have cover for you when you take time off, or you’re on vacation.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have a clear plan.
- Have the proper capital needed to start but also operate the business.
- Set boundaries. (know what you’re good at - know what you can outsource - know when to say no)
