Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Debbie Lundberg, Founder of Presenting Powerfully by Debbie Lundberg, located in Tampa, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Are you ready to wow an audience, create a strategy, offer a teaming, or engage a coach? Then let's do it! As a Performance Coach, it is a joy to collaborate with individuals and organizations to provide keynotes & talks, strategy & facilitation, teaming & training, and coaching & consulting in the areas of communication, behaviors & relationships, leading & leadership, and kindness & Emotional Intelligence.
Tell us about yourself
As a fully recovered perfectionist, I am grateful to be a two-time TEDx speaker, Best Selling Author, Performance Coach, keynoter, facilitator and strategist, trainer, and consultant who enjoys being a 60-75 round/year golfer, a Living Kidney Donor, and driven Kindness Encourager! I am, at the core, a proud half of Team Lundberg with my husband, Michael. With all of that in mind, it is a joy to know and share that being and doing our best matters. And, while each day is its own day and not every the best day, all of us can do our best with what we have today!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
While surely there will be accomplishments to follow, so far, one of the biggest accomplishments was moving through 2020 with grace as I kept my in-person, Nationwide company, Presenting Powerfully, afloat while donating 78 talks and the first 100 copies of the book REMOTE WORK ROCKSTAR to contribute positively to the changing environment everyone was experiencing during the pandemic's impact that altered the world's workplace landscape.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
As a service provider, it is challenging to have people say they want to "pick my brain" about a topic, presentation, or situation when that coaching is exactly what one of my services is. We don't ask a doctor out to lunch and ask them to remove our tonsils, so having this happen in a service industry is perplexing. The upside? I learned boundaries and how to communicate service offerings and rates readily!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Decide if you are starting a side hustle, business, or entrepreneurial endeavor, as they are different, and communicating what you are doing to yourself and others will keep you focused.
- Surround yourself with people who are similar to you and those who are different than you so that you will get clear input and perspective. Be open to ideas and feedback without defense, and yet resist waffling as a result of other people's opinions.
- Know your value. Don't discount. Stay firm in what you are providing, and clearly communicate that without apology. With that, be all you can, and don't sacrifice for a dollar; rather, spend the time and energy on the expertise!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
While what you do for a living is important, WHO YOU ARE AS A PERSON is now, and always will be, most important, so please be kind to yourself and others...not that toxic positivity or confetti kindness; instead, be real, present, graceful and compassionate in what you think, share and do
