Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Deanna Allegar, owner of Reconnect Chiropractic, located in Loveland, CO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Reconnect Chiropractic is a chiropractic office that welcomes all ages and stages. We focus our chiropractic care on a functioning nervous system. This approach allows us to adjust pregnant patients, babies, and beyond. We utilize several adjusting techniques in our office to fit the individual patient. We strongly believe that one size does not fit all regarding chiropractic adjustments. Specificity and technique are values that provide success for our patients. Whether your little one has colic or you can't get through the day from fatigue, we can help. A balanced and well-functioning nervous system can make a world of difference!
Tell us about yourself
We are a husband and wife team! This is motivation in itself because we hold each other accountable, not just as chiropractors but also as business owners. We have very different stories of how we were each called to chiropractic, but those stories resulted in the same goal, owning a chiropractic practice where families feel comfortable and heard. Our motivation is driven by our amazing community! We couldn't do what we love without the support of our patients and community members. They remind us every day to show up and serve with love!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We opened our doors three days before having to shut down due to the pandemic. We were absolutely distraught! Here we were, new to Loveland, months into building out our office, and we were not allowed to see any patients, meet anyone at networking events, or really anyone for that matter. We were stuck on the start block and couldn't move forward until "further notice." Jump forward to almost three years later, and we are thriving! Building a successful business during the pandemic is our greatest accomplishment as of yet.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
This is a tough question because each industry definitely has its own struggles. However, in our experience, one of the hardest things is staying positive and motivated when times get really hard. No matter what, you need to show up even when you feel like you can't, or there is no point.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have patience. What you do now will pay off 3-6 months from now.
- Start your business from a place of passion and desire to fill a need instead of just trying to make money. Passion will drive profit.
- Show up! You never know when or where you are going to meet your next client or patient. Get out of your comfort zone a little and show up to that random meet and greet.
