Live Your Life on Purpose - Day By Day Solutions
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Joshua Olmos, President and CEO of Day By Day Solutions, located in Sparks, NV, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a marketing coach that helps business owners create a clear strategy to market for sales, not likes.
Tell us about yourself
I learned how to market in the nonprofit sector. When you rely on donations to keep things going, you learn to utilize your resources best. I was a homeless teen and knew anyone could create the life they wanted with the right direction and motivation. This is what drives me to help others every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Readjusting our business to work with those who truly embody our values. A couple of years after launching the business, we were lucky enough to get some big-name clients but soon realized they we more interested in the bottom line than helping others. We had a choice to make. We could continue working with these big corporations or restructure our business to align with our values better. This was a significant milestone in our company, and we will often think back to it when making decisions.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Keeping your focus and being intentional about moving things forward. As a business owner is easy to become reactive and become more of a firefighter than a leader.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Clarity is key. A clear plan helps avoid distraction, and a clear message gets more clients.
- The basics are what score the goals. Don't get fancy. Do so much of what works that it would be unreasonable for you not to succeed.
- Be in the moment. People are loyal to experiences and people, not companies. The fastest way to lose a customer is by trying to get to the next one and not listening to the person in front of you. How do you know what is valuable to someone if you don't listen to them?
