Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Daniela Panait, of Health to the Next Level, located in Ottawa, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Through my business, I am promoting health and well-being to clients by suggesting nutrition plans and supplementation tailored to their individual needs and lifestyle. My client is anyone who is looking into improving health through nutrition in a holistic way. My ideal client is the working professional who is extremely busy and who is in search of improving its health and wellness "on the go."

Tell us about yourself

I am a working professional, who fulfils many other roles and who needs to be fully functional while feeling good many hours a day. Not too long ago, I got to that place in my life where everything was falling apart because my overall health and well-being were out of control. It is when I said to myself, "It has to be a better way” to handle all the commitments I have while being able to enjoy life. It was then when I discovered the nutrition system that brought me back to a better everything, starting with my health and well-being and ending with the quality of relations I have in my life. It was then when I decided I need to do it the right way. So, I went back to school to study about "how's" and "why's" of the system that brought my health and well-being back, so that I could properly give it forward. I am now doing what I am passionate about, helping others, who are right now in the place I have been not too long ago, through nutritional counseling with solutions that are both affordable and efficient.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think I finally get to do what I love the most while helping others. I believe that is the only work and contribution to society that does not make you feel tired at the end of the day.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Every start is difficult and sometimes intimidating. I think one of the hardest things is to have the courage to say it out loud: I want to do it! (whatever the business is).  It is the first step in becoming a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Become crystal clear about what is it that will be THE VALUE (product or service) you will generate through your business. That directs to identifying those who will benefit from it.
  2. While it is important to have long-term goals, do not evaluate them in the short term. What I mean is, never evaluate 5-year goals after 1 year. If every day you move one step further towards that goal, it is called success.
  3. Always check if your business values meet the needs of your ideal client.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

While I'm still at the beginning of entrepreneurship, I learn something new every day, something that helps me get those "get back muscles" stronger than those "give up muscles." What I mean is, being fully aware of the fact that fear of unknown is a made-up story and has nothing to do with what happened yet, helps me move forward one step at the time.
