Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Daniel Marcos, Co-Founder and CEO of Growth Institute, located in Austin, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Growth Institute is the premier online training company for mid-market companies worldwide. Growth Institute is an ecosystem that supports business growth through the alignment of Thought Leaders, a community of business leaders who are continuous learners, and an eLearning platform that provides a safe environment to debate, learn and implement the latest business methodologies.
Here at Growth Institute, our aim is to shorten the gaps in business education and professional development. Our dream is to help 1 million companies achieve their dreams of scaling big while reducing drama. We believe it takes a Village of Gurus to build a great business, and we are proud to provide this to companies in 70+ countries in 3 different languages.
Tell us about yourself
Daniel Marcos is the co-founder and CEO of Growth Institute, the leading online education company for C-level executives at fast-growing firms. He is a keynote speaker and a CEO Coach with a mission to help 1 million entrepreneurs scale their impact and reduce drama in the process. He is a member of YPO and EO and is a certified coach in the Scaling Up methodology. He graduated from EO’s premiere CEO program, the “Birthing of Giants.”
In the year 2000, he built an online trading business acquired within six months by Argentina’s most significant financial player at the time. As a serial entrepreneur, Daniel quickly realized that CEOs are often the company’s bottleneck.
In the same way, you can only solve a problem by first elevating your mindset. A business can only evolve what the CEO can handle. Daniel partnered with Verne Harnish in 2012 to expand executive training. What was once reserved for a small niche of wealthy companies is now available to all CEOs and executive teams.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As the CEO of Growth Institute, Daniel is recognized as one of the best 100 CEOs of Mexico by Best Place to Work. In less than a decade, Growth Institute has been recognized four times among the top 5,000 fastest-growing companies in the USA, with over 55,000 members (and counting!) across 68 countries.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Being the CEO of a company involves a lot of responsibility and commitment. It implies enormous, unforeseen challenges that often make us doubt if it is worth taking the position if we are suitable for it. Daniel Marcos knows that feeling very well, that feeling of stagnation, that frustration that comes with the dynamic of trial and error, those quality-of-life sacrifices, and the extremely hard work it takes to scale a company.
In his extensive experience as a business coach, Daniel has understood that this great difficulty comes because most business leaders do not have a system to guide them in the direction of their company, a system that allows them to know exactly how to prioritize, measure results, make correct decisions, communicate effectively with the team, and keep that team aligned. In short, how to focus on being that leader that your company needs to escalate its impact and reduce drama.
A steering system has finally been designed to meet that need. It is called “ImpactX,” a high-level methodology for CEOs who want their own management system and thus have verifiable growth results for their business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Set goals and metrics to move in the right direction - that will help when you have to make decisions.
- Create a routine. Routine sets you free. Organize your time wisely.
- Be surrounded by a TRIBE of business leaders like you and business experts. It is the only way you will make it without drama.
