Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lori Rybak, Owner of Dancified - Dance Classes for Grown-ups, located in Thornhill, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business provides dance classes that are mainly for adults who "still" want to dance seriously as they get older, and classes are harder to find to suit their needs. Downtown-level choreography in the burbs. Flexible schedules for moms etc. Private and semi-private groups and lessons.
Tell us about yourself
After having kids, I wanted to teach dance again and decided to only teach adults as there are limited classes available for them. I love dancing. I love the dancers who come get dancified with me. It is a joy. Not work. Win-win.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I'm just happy to have such a great group of dancers that I can provide an outlet for. That I can choreograph for, and we all get to dance and stay healthy and be happy together. And it is fun! I barely consider it a business. It is a program. It is choreography and classes designed for the dancers.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I hate asking people for money. I wish I didn't have to charge at all. Haa!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do something you love.
- Follow your instincts.
- Be organized.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I'm lucky the right people found me. Getting your info out there is important.
