Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dana Sednek, a strategic consultant based in Denver, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help leaders and teams solve complex problems that exist at the intersection of people and technology with an approach that engages people at all levels of the organization, inspires innovation, and empowers lasting behavior change. My customers are senior-level executives responsible for digital transformation, employee experience, and leadership. I work with enterprise Fortune 500 companies as well as startups (and anywhere in between!)

Tell us about yourself

I have a passion for helping people realize their possibilities and potential. With a Master's Degree in Conflict Resolution - I love to find win/win solutions as companies move through major change. I've been in organizational learning and leadership for over 20 years. My biggest motivator is watching an individual or a team successfully make a major change in their work.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I love to see organizations still using the processes and mechanisms I helped them build years later. One Fortune 500 Client still successfully uses the onboarding program I built to onboard employees across the globe.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As a consultant, knowing when to say no to a business you've outgrown and feel confident in not accepting new business when it doesn't align with my vision, values, or direction. There are many projects I could do, but if they don't help me learn and grow, they aren't the most valuable use of my time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Know your worth and be confident in pricing and bidding out work. Try stuff and shoot for "good enough" so that you can test it and get it out (it's the only way to learn fast!). Don't get caught up in the details too soon.
