Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lynne Damianos, Owner of Damianos Photography, located in Framingham, MA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Damianos Photography - I photograph buildings/interiors, products, and people for business. My clients are people in the building industry (architects, interior designers, construction managers, general contractors, landscape designers), plus businesses that need headshots and/or photographs of their products, services, and facilities.
Tell us about yourself
After working for my architect father while growing up, I learned much about the built environment. I love creating lasting images of designed spaces that tell a story about the project. I am motivated by turning technical challenges into art.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Helping clients win awards for their projects via my photographs.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Knowing your limitations and when to say no.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Take a business class.
- Network with other professionals in your field and join a trade association.
- Take out a line of credit. You may not need it now, but chances are you will.
