What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is an administrative and organization consulting company aiming to help small business owners manage their administrative tasks and provide services to free up their creative time.
Tell us about yourself
I started working on my business when I was looking for more autonomy in my life. I was really good at administration and enjoyed work that required attention to detail (often things that most people hate). I figured I could use this skill to help people and start my own business. What keeps me motivated is the autonomy my own business gives me. It feels good to be rewarded for the work you choose to do.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is starting the business itself; it’s not easy. It took a lot of research and hard work - doing all this while working full-time. Once the business was up and running, I felt so accomplished. It really showed me that I have what it takes to be autonomous.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing is finding ways to stay motivated, especially when success isn’t instantaneous. We often see stories about “overnight success.” That’s not everyone’s reality, and learning that was hard.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Consistency is the key to success - do something every day, even if it’s for 20 minutes.
- You don’t have to be good at everything, just one thing - find a way to make your skill the ability to solve someone’s problem.
- Grow your network; you can’t do it alone - anyone looking to grow their business will need partners so they can focus on growth.
