What's your business, and who are your customers?
Curls and Texture University is a virtual salon education platform for licensed professional hair stylists who want to grow and thrive in the natural hair community. This course is relative to all things curly and textured hair.
Tell us about yourself
I knew this was my calling when I got an influx of women sharing with me that I was the only natural hair stylist they could find who provided such a quality and informative experience in my city. My daily motivation comes from seeing the need! Until women with curls and textured hair are able to have more inclusive salon options, I have so much work to do!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Leading my industry in transitioning SO many women from relaxer and keratin to being fully natural. With this comes newfound confidence and empowerment in myself and my clients.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Thinking we have to wear all of the hats and relinquish control.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Constantly get educated in your craft, including the business side.
- Find a mentor, reach out and share your goals and aspirations and ask questions.
- Be who you needed when you were younger.
