Accelerate Growth Achieve Strategic Driven Results - CSR
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Juan Alejandro ("Alex") Muñoz, Owner of CSR, LLC., located in Atlanta, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
CSR is a strategy consultancy that works primarily with service companies. We exist to create greater happiness and success for businesses and their owners. Our hallmark difference is that CSR will also work with the owner to implement the plan that we recommend.
Tell us about yourself
My parents are Cuban, and I was born and raised here in Atlanta, Georgia - a rare thing: a native. I did my undergrad studies in Management at Georgia Tech and a master's in Information Systems up in DC at George Washington University. I've married that educational preparation with time in disparate industries ranging from manufacturing to financial services to health information management. For a little over 20 years, I have been the co-owner and principal of CSR.
I am driven by faith, family, and my focus on driving value for my clients. We champion small business owners as they are the backbone of this country. They're the ones who put their necks on the line, day in and day out, and are the first ones up and the last ones to go to bed. I've learned over the years that this drive to serve was planted by watching my Dad (who fulfilled all of the above criteria) struggle and wanting to help him make it.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have been able to provide for my family (I have been married for 33 years and have 5 kids) as well as deliver a service that is life-changing to our client base. This is a service that I deliver, but over the years (and following my own strategic plan), I have brought folks on the team to also deliver it. These are talented, exceptional folks that appreciate being able to work in a fashion that complements their lifestyle and where they are in life (kids, no kids, sabbatical, etc.).
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Pretty much, you're always on. It can be lonely (and that's with my life partner as my business partner). It's on you all the time, every day.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't let good be the enemy of perfect. If you wait for the absolute right time to do something, it'll probably never happen.
- Have a plan, but be willing to "ooch" and try things.
- Before you hire anyone for anything, really, really, really think about it and make sure that they are perfect fits with your company's mission/vision/values.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I'm a (mostly) retired rugby player who takes the same intensity from the field to the client interaction.
