Tell us about yourself

…and more!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My passion for mission-driven work was sparked when I was a teenager and learned how toxins from landfill leach beds have contaminated public water supplies. I later became an activist after learning about global warming. I was working as a paralegal then but began organizing public awareness campaigns as a volunteer. Since then, I've planned and managed over 200 events, dozens of projects, and numerous teams. I love geeking out on setting up systems and processes, building spreadsheets of data and resources, and recruiting people who share the values of the organizations I'm working for.
I formed CSBoyce Consulting in 2020 so that I could help advance the work of the causes I care about. My motivation is knowing that my work is a positive contribution to society. I'm currently building out a ClickUp workspace for a nonprofit's flagship fundraising event and recruiting volunteers for the planning committees that I'm managing. I was able to recruit nine well-qualified and committed new volunteers in less than a week.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Staying organized when you're a solopreneur doing everything. I've always been super organized and a master plan maker by nature, but I know my own human limitations. Everything we do is becoming exponentially automated, and the most efficient way to stay relevant is to embrace systems that do the busywork for you. Two systems that I can't live without are ClickUp and Zapier.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find your people! Join a community or a mastermind, or an accountability partner who is on a similar path. You'll learn from folks who are ahead of you as well as from those a few steps behind you. You'll have a sounding board and a support system. Maybe you can do it in isolation, but why would you want to?
- Work on your self-development! Self-awareness, an ever-evolving mindset, and emotional growth are going to serve you well in all areas of your life. The sooner you work on yourself, the quicker you'll become who you are meant to be.
- Consume a variety of content! It's easy to only want to consume content related to your business, but new ideas are born from a variety of inputs. Expand your podcasts and reading lists to include new material, other interests, and opposing views.
