What's your business, and who are your customers?

My name is Andrea, but most people know me as Fran! I am the owner of Crystal + Craft, an online metaphysical and wellness shop. I offer a wide variety of items to customers all over the world, including crystals, herbs, and candles. I am a practicing witch and have been for over seven years, although I spent my childhood surrounded by the items I now sell.

Tell us about yourself

During 2021, I became interested in candle-making. After months of research and testing, I launched my first hand-made candles. We started posting our candles on TikTok and went "viral." I love making these candles as they are custom-made to order; each one is unique.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would have to say my biggest accomplishment IS being a business owner. I am so grateful to have a community of people that support not only myself but my business as well. Being able to do what I love full time is a literal dream come true.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is rocking with the ebbs and flows of the country, community, and world. After COVID hit, we were lucky enough to sustain our business. Occasionally, you do hit a creative wall, which can be tough to overcome. My advice to fellow business owners is just to keep pushing. The more you work toward your goal, the faster it will come to fruition!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Create a plan and make obtainable goals for yourself. Don't expect to become a millionaire your first year in business!
  2. Have a network of friends, family, and other business owners that you can turn to for help. Remember, though, you are your business's number one asset, so if the advice given does not feel right - follow your intuition!
  3. Keep putting in the work. There are times that you may feel what you are doing has no impact on your business. Every little thing you do is impactful, so don't get down on yourself.
