Graphic Design With Intuition - Crown Media Consulting
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in graphic design but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Erika Martinez, founder of Crown Media Consulting, located in Lake Point, Utah, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Have you ever walked into a store and bought something you did not need but liked, and it made you smile? Sales are driven 93% by emotions. Those emotions come to us humans as a reaction to what we see. My job is to capture your business energy and translate it into a visual. That visual MUST extract your audience and client's emotions so they can feel seen, supported, and represented.
Tell us about yourself
My life has always been attached to art; I even graduated from college with two art degrees. But it wasn't until I started working for a multi-level online company that I experienced firsthand the effect of visual marketing. After applying visual marketing to my presence in the company, my sales grew exponentially, so I knew that was my calling. After that experience, team members requested my help with visuals, and my company Crown Media Consulting was born.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is seeing and hearing from my clients how much their business has grown thanks to my help. A few years back, a client confessed that it wasn't until we designed and created her website that her sales triplicated. Her new graphics and visual presentation of her offers were powerful enough to attract new clients and present old clients with offers they had no idea they needed.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Keeping a work-life balance is the hardest part when it comes to owning a business. You are working on tasks and coming up with new ideas for the business 99% of your free time. The second most hardest thing is learning to say no to clients that are not aligned with our mission values and morale.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My first tip is to ignore your doubts. When you show up and work on your passion, the long run becomes your tomorrow. Secondly, practice and gain experience. You will fail, but that is what experience is. Lastly, create boundaries. Who do you NOT what to work with and what are your working hours (I don't work mornings, workdays start at 1 pm)
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
