What's your business, and who are your customers?

Crown Makeovers provides luxury makeover services for bridal parties and individual clients for special occasions. We aim to bring our customers' vision to life and get them photo-ready.

Tell us about yourself

I started doing makeup in 2015. It allowed me to delve into my creative side and overcome a rough patch. I immediately loved being able to enhance the natural beauty of my clients. It's amazing to see how confident my beautiful clients become, and that is what keeps me going. My goal is always to make sure they are happy and satisfied with my work.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment thus far was participating in a big bridal show this year. It was something I had wanted to do for some time, and I learned a lot from that experience. From logistics to organizing staff to marketing and decor - the whole experience was anxiety-riddled, but I loved it! Now, I know how to execute events at that level, and it has helped grow my business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing a small business while being employed in school has been difficult at times. Sometimes I don't get much sleep, but I love my craft, and my clients truly keep me going.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Beauty industry trends are always evolving, so it is important to always keep learning.
  2. Start small, you don't need a million-dollar kit to start doing makeup.
  3. Practice makes perfect.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Makeup is much like a science, it requires a lot of personal learning and experimenting with techniques. The best makeup artists in the business are always learning, and so should anyone pursuing this field.
