Captivate Your Audience With Your Content - Crissy Conner

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Crissy Conner, a visibility expert, and social media strategist based in Grove City, OH, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

As the visibility queen, I support female entrepreneurs to grow their businesses with visibility strategies to help them reach their goals with more time & financial freedom. Every woman deserves to be heard and seen as they market the business they are passionate about...to the world.

Tell us about yourself

I am an introvert who swore she'd never get on video, who hates being the center of attention with huge fears of what others think of me. Video paralyzed me, but I realized after years of being bogged down by client work as a social media strategist it was the path to help me create programs and offers that could support me in scaling my business. However, there was no such thing as "build it, and they will come" because no one knew me; it was time to get visible.

Every day I jump out of bed, knowing there is someone who isn't showing up the way she could (just like I was), and if I don't take that opportunity every day to put myself out there to support her in her growth, I'm doing female entrepreneurs a disservice. I show up to teach others how to show up, how to work smarter, not harder, and how to live a life they design by creating programs, offers, and passive products.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment would have to be taking a business where I worked 80-hour weeks into a business model that I work 30 and take 6-8 vacations a year, creating passive and recurring revenue that supports the time freedom and location freedom I desired for so long. I used to live at my desk, not I live my life.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things as a business owner is doing things you don't want to do. But you said yes to this passion, and with that passion comes a lot of crap you won't love doing (also our responsibility). You do it anyway because you know someday you can hire it out; you know someday you can hand that task off. But, for today, it's on you, and you realize you don't have to do anything you get to, and that is where the perspective changed me.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Work on yourself; your mind will stop you from reaching your goals. One of my favorite quotes is if it wasn't for the BS stories we tell ourselves, being a business owner would be easy.
  2. Get a mentor, and find a community. DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS ALONE. It is more fun together, and we, as women especially, are stronger together.
  3. Get visible, and don't be afraid to show up for the people you want to help change their life. Become unforgettable to your audience!
