Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tiphanie Anirah, owner of CreeAnna’s LLC., located in Pocatello, ID, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
CreeAnna’s LLC is a bakery where we sell pastries such as cookies, quick breads, and African dishes such as our famous African meat pies! Our customers are those who love pastries and culture!
Tell us about yourself
My name is Tiphanie (the baker), and my husband's name is Prince (finance), and we are the business owners of CreeAnna's LLC! However, we do more than just baking and finance. We take care of the photography to the dishwashing, and everything in between!
The business started with the idea that wasn't even from us! The idea actually came from a family friend! I (Tiphanie) love baking and sharing what I've made with family and friends. One day, my friend suggested, "You should start selling these," and The rest is history! Starting the business was a challenge for us because my husband and I had never started a business before. When we overcame the challenges by getting through one day at a time. Our number one motivation was to be our own boss. We didn't want to work at a typical job anymore. So we took the initiative into running a business we could call our own.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our first accomplishment as a business owner was making our first sale! We thought if one person is willing to buy our products, why not try to reach the whole community!? Today, our biggest accomplishment is renting our first commercialized kitchen! We can’t wait for what is in store for us in the future for our next big accomplishment!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Learning how to deal with new situations is one of the challenges in owning a business. For example, making big decisions can make or break us. Sometimes we have to take a leap of faith, and that’s so scary sometimes, but we know it will work out because God is on our side!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Take one day at a time.
- Learn to take risks.
- Don’t give up, even when it’s hard.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
As Kevin, a.k.a. Mr. wonderful, on the Shark Tank TV show, said, “You’re not [a business owner] for the money! You’re in it for the freedom.” That’s what we wanted. We wanted to make our own decisions and learn our own way to be our own accomplishments.
