Empowered Living for Superwomen - Creating Legacy Wellness

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kim Goeltom, founder of Creating Legacy Wellness, located in Williamsburg, VA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

As a Certified Holistic Wellness Coach, my goal is to help Superwomen, Corporate Executives, Small Business Owners, and Employee's receive holistic wellness support in a neutral and safe space. I am helping them to change their legacy of wellness for themselves and generations to come!

I started my business as a Superwoman Wellness Coach based on my own journey. Exploring wellness and my journey of study organically led me to what I am doing, helping to guide other highly driven Superwomen who are exhausted from managing everything and everyone to overcome the nagging feeling that there's never enough time in the day to get it done and the weight on their shoulders is only getting heavier so that they can finally figure out how to release the pressure and feel energized to live a life outside of the 'to do's.'

I am here to support Superwomen and help them do some deep dive inner work to rediscover who they are and who they want to become. Not all journeys are the same. I have walked in Superwoman Overdrive mode, know how to stop that cycle, redefine a Superwoman and help those who want to create some semblance of harmony back into their life today. No need to wait one more day, no need to have one more sleepless night. You just have to be ready to want to make some slight changes to Redefine the Superwoman that YOU really are! During 2020, is when I expanded to Workplace Wellness.

Tell us about yourself

My own journey to finding a healthy lifestyle has given me insight into the many challenges one encounters. This enables me to bring a high level of empathy, respect, and understanding to my clients.

I was a workaholic who survived on performance addiction and said 'yes' to everyone and every project, and by doing that it took a toll on my health. I ended up with Adrenal Fatigue and didn't have the energy to do anything. I was tired of being tired all the time and saying 'no' to all the fun things that I wanted to say 'yes' to!

Daily motivation: I live, eat, and breathe wellness. It has become a part of everything I do, and I love sharing that with others. Supporting and educating my clients on all 12 aspects of the wellness wheel while helping them to uncover their core challenges lights me up! I am exhilarated after a call with a client who is excited to move the needle just one step forward in their wellness!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Wow, that's tough. I have been published in a national magazine, First for Women, and was interviewed regarding my story, won a state contract to do a seven-week wellness journey program for 5000 students at a local community college, and also have a contract with the Wounded Warrior Project to support a local Veteran. Hard to name just one!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I would say the hardest thing for me as a business owner is when I want the success for my clients more than they want it. I have to pull back and meet them where they are at, and for some, it takes them years to take small steps.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Patience, building a business takes time.
  2. Only create a business you are passionate about so that when there are tough days, you are still grateful and excited to be part of that business that you created.
  3. Mindset shift- take some time to really understand the difference between being an employee and a business owner and think about how you will embody this new role as an owner and how that impacts you as a person. Great journaling prompt as well!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

As a business owner, it is important to stay current and creative as well as open to possibilities!

I am currently in a Master of Arts Program for Health and Wellness Coaching. Even though I have several coaching credentials, I am a lifelong learner and believe that the more I learn, the more I can help support my clients, and we grow together!
