What's your business, and who are your customers?
I create handmade home decor, personalized gifts, and crafts. My customers are anyone looking for that unique gift or piece of home decor for themselves or a loved one.
Tell us about yourself
I am seven years post-concussion. I was an educator for years before my accident, which left me with some cognitive impairments, which prevented me from returning to the classroom. I started using crafting (something I was always passionate about) as a method of healing myself. After spending a lot of time creating gifts and decor for myself and my family, several people suggested that I offer my talents to other people. After careful contemplation and discussions with my family, I started my business, Crafting Momma. My business has given me a reason to wake up every morning rather than mourning my previous life. I'm motivated by my desire to create something new for you every day!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Just the creation of my own business has been my biggest accomplishment! My concussion has changed my life drastically. All the steps I needed to take just simply to create this business have been huge for me! It was a huge step outside of my comfort zone.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Making your business stand out in such a loud world!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find something you're passionate about.
- Create long-term goals, not just short-term ones.
- Keep your goals visible to help you keep track of them.
