Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Courtney Rasbach, Founder of Red River Equine, located in Wellston, OK, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an Equine Health Mentor. I help horses live their best lives through an integrated wellness approach. I also help horse owners feel confident in their actions and relationship with their horses, empowering them with knowledge.
Tell us about yourself
I have always had a thing against working for someone else. It was not my cup of tea! At first, I thought I would be an office manager for a veterinary hospital, but as my interest in alternative medicine and holistic care for horses grew, I explored venturing out and creating my own business.
I certainly do not fit into any mold. My methods of business practice are progressive and unique right now. This, in and out itself, is what motivates me each day to continue to do what I do. I am here to break the traditional mindset people have around how they manage their business and how they care for their horses. Knowing that I am challenging the norm and influencing others to think outside the box fuels my fire.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Growing a business that is authentically matched to my energy which attracts clients who match my energy and vibration. This leads to thoughtful and successful impacts to my client's health and well-being.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things was getting out of my own way and not allowing imposter syndrome from taking over. It's important to show up authentically and know that you aren't going to know it all before you walk, but you need to take that first step anyway.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get comfortable being disliked. We, as business owners, are here to bring uniqueness to the world. This comes with being disliked by some for what we stand for. Get used to it, and allow the dislikes to shed light on how you can continue being unique and bringing your gift to the world.
- Outline a set of healthy rules, boundaries, and limitations for your personal and business life early on in your journey.
- Get comfortable with the fluidity of your business. Things will change and alter course. Keep your mission and purpose at the center of your heart and allow the changes to flow effortlessly, allowing your business to grow.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Be comfortable being seen for who you truly are. Those who need what you have to offer will find you.
