Will Help You to Become a Better Leader - Course
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nayana Sen, founder of Course, LLC, located in Jacksonville, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a training and development company based out of Florida. We provide custom course creation and training for our clients. Our courses are geared towards improving soft skills for leaders in organizations. We provide training both in-person, live online, and through our online library of pre-developed courses.
Our newest course is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Smaller Organizations. It has been designed for those companies that are growing or have grown. We know good leaders serve all the people in their organization, so we want to give these leaders some tools to do their job well.
Tell us about yourself
I have worked in the public and private sectors as a senior program/project manager and communications professional. I have taught at the state college level as an Adjunct Professor. I started the business to initially prepare students for the Project Management Professional exam. The pandemic changed the course of my business, and we started focusing on online content. In that process, we started creating courses for other organizations that wanted to bring their content online. That is now a part of our business model, in addition to providing training. I have seen a need for soft skills training across every industry and position I have worked in. I am grateful to be in a position where I can help train people on how to be better leaders. My motivation is to help create positive and healthy workplaces through training and development.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We are a small woman-owned business. I believe my biggest accomplishment is being an example to other women to show you can work, pursue your dreams, and raise a family.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The concept of work-life balance does not exist. It is a matter of utilizing your time and resources as best as you can.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Surround yourself with people who have similar goals.
- There are tons of free and very cost-effective resources available in your community. Use these resources.
- Be kind to yourself and find time for self-care.
